The Thomian Old Boys of California are all set to take up the challenge of chasing down a stiff target set by Royal after they posted 182 runs for 9 wickets at the end of their innings in their traditional annual Big Match played today at the Woodley Park Cricket Grounds in California.
Royal got off to a rocking start when their openers Peshaan Wedanarachchi and Manjula Samarage Don put on a brisk 94 run opening stand for the first wicket in 12.3 overs before the Thomian trio of Daniel Suppiah, Naveen Peiris and Lakshan Liyanage who grabbed two wickets apiece managed to contain their opponents.
The Thomian batting line up was beefed by the inclusion of Vishan De Mel and John Lewis, two prominent cricketers during their schoolboy days who flew down from Toronto Canada to represent TAC.
Chief scores:
Royal OBA (LA California) 182 for 9 in 30 overs (Manjula Don 56, Peshaan Wedanarachchi 48, Aruk Suraweera 36, Daniel Suppiah 2 for 32, Naveen Peiris 2 for 30 and Lakshan Liyanage 2 for 41)
