(COLOMBO) – The principal of a Madrasa school in Eastern Sri Lanka was taken into custody after a 13-year-old student was found dead inside the facility on Wednesday morning, police said.
They said the limp body of a 13-year-old boy was found dangling on a rope from the ceiling of a classroom inside the school situated in the pre-dominant Muslim town of Sainthamaruthu, some 328 kilometres east of the commercial capital of Colombo.
Suspicious residents later stormed the building and the police was called into investigate.
According to police, investigators are probing the incident with an open mind and have not ruled out a case of homicide.
