Ford has recalled over 850,000 vehicles in the U.S., including F-150s, Mustangs, and Lincoln Aviators, due to a fuel pump defect that could cause engines to stall and lead to accidents, warns NHTSA.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Thursday that Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 850,000 vehicles across the United States due to a fuel pump defect that could result in engine stalling and increase the risk of a crash.
According to the NHTSA, the issue lies in a faulty low-pressure fuel pump that may reduce the flow of fuel from the tank to the engine. This can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly during operation, creating a hazardous situation on the road.
The recall affects specific models, including the Ford F-150 pickup truck, Mustang, and Lincoln Aviator. The safety agency notes that while the recall involves a large number of vehicles, only about 10% are expected to contain the actual defect.
Ford is expected to notify vehicle owners and dealers, and repairs will be conducted free of charge to fix the issue. Owners are urged to check their VIN numbers to confirm whether their vehicles are affected.
The recall reflects ongoing efforts by both Ford and federal regulators to ensure vehicle safety and prevent road accidents linked to mechanical failures.
