BBL 13 (Game 7)
BBL Champions Perth bounced back to winning form following an unfortunate abandonment in their initial game. The Scorchers dominated the Melbourne Stars, securing a convincing 7-wicket victory. They first restricted the Stars to just over a hundred runs and then comfortably chased it down with 6 overs to spare. Jason Behrendorff, Hamish McKenzie, and Jhye Richardson emerged as heroes on the night, claiming 8 out of 10 Stars’ wickets to help give Perth the points.
The Stars faced a struggling outing in the 7th game of the BBL, failing to gain any momentum as early wickets forced errors courtesy of Behrendorff and Richardson. Perth’s chinaman Hamish McKenzie bowled exceptionally to further compound their woes, restricting the Stars in the middle overs and adding two more wickets. The lack of momentum resulted in the Stars collapsing at 101 runs with all wickets taken, a total barely sufficient to challenge the next 15 overs.
Stephen Eskanazi, Cooper Connolly, and Aaron Hardie then initiated a strong run chase, contributing with 20 each to swiftly wrapping up the game. While all Perth batters contributed with double-digit scores, the team lost only three wickets, with Josh Inglis and skipper Ashton Turner finishing the match with a 35-run partnership to seal the Scorchers’ victory.
