WI vs ENG (2nd T20)
The West Indies secured another impressive victory over England, triumphing by 10 runs in the second T20 international. Exceptional bowling from the Caribbean side, led by Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein, contained the English batting lineup in the second innings, sealing victory and extending their lead in the 5 match series.
The West Indies began with a solid start as Kyle Mayers and Brandon King initiated proceedings with a 43-run opening partnership. However, the hosts faced a minor setback after losing a couple of wickets. Brandon King then led a remarkable recovery, smashing his way through the English attack and finishing unbeaten at 80 runs. His partnership with Rovman Powell towards the end pushed the West Indies to a competitive total of 176 for 7.
England’s run chase fell short of expectations as their top order crumbled, reaching 108 for 5, leaving Sam Curran to hold the innings together.
Despite Curran’s impressive 50, it wasn’t sufficient to counter Alzarri Joseph, Hosein, and Motie. This trio combined effectively to dismantle the remaining English batters, effectively containing the run rate. Despite Andre Russell conceding 66 runs in his 4 overs, England concluded their chase at 166 for 7.
