Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan is confirmed to attend the much-anticipated grand opening of City of Dreams Sri Lanka on August 2, 2025, stepping in as the special guest following Shah Rukh Khan’s unexpected withdrawal.
Initially, Shah Rukh Khan was announced as the lead performer at the exclusive launch event of South Asia’s first luxury integrated resort, a landmark project set to transform Sri Lanka’s hospitality and entertainment landscape. However, organizers later announced that the actor would not be attending due to “unforeseen and unavoidable personal reasons.”
Filling the void is Hrithik Roshan, one of India’s most celebrated film stars and dancers, whose presence is expected to electrify the event. Known for his charisma, global appeal, and blockbuster performances, Roshan will grace the red carpet as the guest of honor.
The invite-only celebration will mark the official unveiling of the mega resort, a collaborative development between John Keells Holdings and Melco Resorts & Entertainment, designed to place Sri Lanka firmly on the map as a premier destination for luxury tourism, entertainment, and gaming.
City of Dreams Sri Lanka is positioned as a game-changer in the regional hospitality industry, combining world-class accommodation, entertainment, and fine dining experiences under one roof.
Roshan’s presence is expected to draw significant media attention and fanfare across South Asia, further boosting Sri Lanka’s tourism visibility at a crucial moment in the country’s economic recovery and global image rebranding.
