Police warn MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena’s daughter to surrender or face a court-ordered property freeze amid an investigation into an illegally imported jeep. Her husband is already in custody.
Police have issued a final warning to the daughter of Member of Parliament Rohitha Abeygunawardena, urging her to surrender immediately or face the risk of a court-ordered seizure of her property.
According to police sources, if she fails to present herself within the next few days, legal steps will be taken to obtain a property freezing order.
Investigators say they have searched multiple locations based on intelligence about her whereabouts, but she was not found at any of those places.
She is being sought in connection with an ongoing investigation involving the illegal import and assembly of a luxury jeep into Sri Lanka.
Her husband, who is also implicated in the case, surrendered to court on the previous day and was subsequently remanded.
Law enforcement authorities say they are intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend her, while legal action regarding asset seizure is being prepared as a contingency.
