Minister Samantha Vidyarathna asserts that no government official is willing to die in vain and confirms security measures will be taken if intelligence deems it necessary. Reassuring that the President is already under protection, he emphasized the importance of safeguarding leaders without shame or hesitation. Minister Samantha Vidyarathna has stated that if intelligence reports indicate a threat, steps will be taken to ensure security without hesitation. He made it clear that none of the current ministers, including himself, are prepared to sacrifice their lives unnecessarily.
Speaking during a recent program and later addressing the media, Minister Vidyarathna said, “If security is needed, we will take it. There is nothing to deny. No one here is ready to die for nothing.”
He also clarified that the President of Sri Lanka is already being provided with a suitable level of protection, emphasizing that no one is opposed to ensuring the safety of the head of state.
His comments came amid rising concerns about political instability and threats to public officials, reinforcing the stance that while duty remains important, survival is paramount.
