Deputy Minister T.B. Sarath declares that the current government is here to stay well beyond a single term, promising deep social, economic, and political transformation within the next decade and a half.
Deputy Minister T.B. Sarath has declared that the present government is not one that came to power for just five years, but intends to lead the country for a long time into the future.
Speaking at a ceremonial gathering, Sarath emphasized that this administration, elected democratically by the will of the people, plans to remain in power for far more than the next five or ten years. He stated that the nation’s most significant social, economic, and political changes will only be fully realized in 10 to 15 years, and that the process has only just begun.
The Deputy Minister described the present as a transitional period, asserting that previous leaders, fearful of such change, had kept Sri Lanka stagnant for 76 years while the rest of the world experienced major social, industrial, and technological revolutions.
Sarath expressed confidence that the current government’s long-term vision would move the nation away from that era of stagnation and towards a new period of growth and progress.
