Sri Lanka climb to fourth in the ICC ODI team rankings, overtaking Pakistan after a dominant series win over Bangladesh, setting the stage for their upcoming clash with Zimbabwe.
Sri Lanka have surged to fourth place in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings with 103 rating points, overtaking Pakistan, who now sit fifth with 102 rating points.
This ranking boost comes after Sri Lanka’s impressive 2-1 victory against Bangladesh in last month’s home series. The hosts secured the opening ODI by 77 runs and sealed the series with a commanding 99-run win in the third and final match.
The shake-up in the standings has also impacted Bangladesh, who drop to 10th place with 77 rating points. The West Indies have moved up to ninth with 78 points after recent performances.
India continue to dominate the ODI rankings, holding the top spot with 124 rating points following their ICC Champions Trophy triumph earlier this year. New Zealand remain second with 109 rating points, narrowly ahead of Australia, who share the same points but are placed third on net run rate. South Africa and Afghanistan take sixth and seventh spots respectively, while England occupy eighth place.
Sri Lanka now turn their focus to their upcoming two-match ODI series against Zimbabwe starting on August 29, followed by a three-match T20I series on the same tour. Pakistan, meanwhile, are battling the West Indies in an ODI series currently tied 1-1, with the decisive match scheduled for August 12.
India will not feature in any ODIs until October, when they embark on a white-ball tour of Australia, playing three ODIs from October 19 to 25.
