(COLOMBO) – A British national was arrested at Sri Lanka’s main Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while in possession of a revolver, a ‘Rambo Knife’ and 10 rounds of live ammunition, police said on Saturday.
The man identified as 54-year-old Parker Robert was nabbed at luggage control shortly before he was to a board a scheduled flight to the UK, they said.
Police quoted the Briton as saying that the revolver found in his luggage was an artifact gifted to him by his grandmother.
However he could not explain the live ammunition rounds and the offensive knife which is outlawed on all commercial flights according to international aviation rules and regulations, police added.
They said the weapons were confiscated and that the Briton was to be produced before a local Magistrate sometime later on Saturday.
