A shocking revelation in Parliament by Namal Rajapaksa has ignited controversy, as he claims the judge set to hear a powerful minister’s case has been abruptly transferred, raising fresh concerns about judicial independence and political interference.
The national organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Namal Rajapaksa, revealed in Parliament that judges scheduled to hear a case involving a powerful minister seated in the front row of Parliament have been transferred.
Speaking in the House, Rajapaksa said that the entire country is aware of who is facing such a case and emphasized that the matter is not hidden from the public.
He further alleged that certain ministers maintain a residence in Anuradhapura solely for personal leisure, highlighting the lifestyle of those in power while avoiding accountability.
Rajapaksa strongly warned that there should be no political interference in the appointment or transfer of judges, stressing that the independence of the judicial system must be preserved at all costs.
The statement has intensified the debate on judicial freedom in Sri Lanka, with growing calls for transparency and accountability in the justice system.
