Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Prasad Siriwardena has called for fingerprinting to be made compulsory for all public servants, accusing the NPP government of hypocrisy and warning that they would resist the same measure if in opposition.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Prasad Siriwardena says he unconditionally supports making fingerprinting mandatory for public servants.
He claims that there are several such measures this government can implement, but if the JVP were in opposition, they would never allow fingerprinting to become law.
Siriwardena alleged that if the JVP were in opposition, they would mobilize their trade unions to resist the move, stir up society, and work to paralyze the entire state sector.
He further charged that the JVP has consistently opposed progressive reforms proposed by governments in the past, and he openly challenged them to name even a single initiative they had supported in the national interest.
Prasad Siriwardena made these remarks while speaking on the Derana Wadapitiya program.
