The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the revised schedule for the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The update confirms that the controversial M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore has been dropped, with Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium now included as a confirmed venue.
The tournament will feature eight powerhouse teams: Sri Lanka, India, Australia, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa. In the group stage, each nation will face every other side, with the top four teams in the points table advancing to the semi-finals.
The Women’s ODI World Cup kicks off on September 30 with a blockbuster opening clash between Sri Lanka and India in Guwahati. However, due to the ongoing Indo-Pakistan political tensions, the ICC has scheduled all of Pakistan’s matches exclusively at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The semi-finals are slated for October 29 and 30, with the grand final scheduled for November 2. Importantly, if Pakistan qualifies for the knockouts, all of their matches will remain in Colombo, further highlighting the geopolitical backdrop to this year’s competition.
This revised schedule ensures cricket fans will witness an exciting, politically charged tournament as women’s cricket takes center stage across South Asia.
