Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe launched a scathing attack on the Rajapaksa legacy, declaring that Namal Rajapaksa will not regain political power even if he campaigns from village to village or door to door.
Addressing the media, Minister Samarasinghe accused past governments of bankrupting Sri Lanka to the point where even opening a letter of credit was impossible. He questioned whether the same individuals who crippled the economy now expect public sympathy by traveling village to village, similar to how supporters once rallied when former President Ranil Wickremesinghe was arrested.
The Minister was firm in his stance that the public has already made up its mind about the Rajapaksa family. “The people of the entire country know that Namal Rajapaksa will not get a chance again, even if he goes from village to village, not from house to house,” he stated.
His remarks reflect the growing political narrative that the Rajapaksas, once dominant in Sri Lankan politics, have lost credibility and public trust due to their role in the economic collapse.
