(COLOMBO) – Three Sri Lankan police officers were transferred from their respective dvisions after they opted to join a tree planting campaign instead of providing security for a local politician, it was revealed on Tuesday.
Initial investigations have revealed that the three policemen had opted to participle in a village ‘green’ drive although they had been originally assigned to provide security for a politician who was due to arrive in the area in a helicopter.
The three policemen had joined the ‘green’ drive program following an invitation from the organizers that included local village officials, agriculture inspectors and even policemen.
After photographs of the tree planting campaign went viral on social media a furious senior policeman from the region had ordered that three men to face immediate disciplinary action perhaps on the instruction of the so-called VIP politician.
