(COLOMBO) – A Sri Lankan Police Constable (PC) was relieved of his duties after he was caught red-handed puffing on a cannabis cigar while on duty, police said on Tuesday.
The Constable who was not identified was attached to the Habaraduwa Police Station some 78 miles from the commercial capital of Colombo, police said.
He was nabbed by his senior officer following a tip-off.
He was subsequently produced before a Judicial Medical Officer (JMO), where it was confirmed that he was a narcotic addict.
He was interdicted on the directive of the divisional police chief Superintendent (SP) Sanath Amarasinghe following the JMO’s report.
