(COLOMBO) – A Sri Lankan policeman moonlighting as a three wheel driver during his off hours was arrested when he attempted to molest a local actress, police said on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old popular actress hired the vehicle for a short distance from Jaliyagoda to Piliyandala close to the commercial capital of Colombo.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect had initially faked a mechanical failure at a lonely spot and then attempted to fondle the victim who was subsequently rescued by members of the public.
It was later revealed that the suspect, is a Police Inspector, attached to the Bribery or Corruption Investigations Unit and works as a three-wheeler driver during his off-days.
The actress had received minor injuries to her knees and was treated at a nearby medical centre.
The fate of the Police Inspector was not immediately known.
