(COLOMBO) – Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, the Princess Royal of the United Kingdom, will be carrying her own baggage as she embarks on a SriLankan Airlines flight from London to Colombo for a two-day official visit commemorating the 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal of the United Kingdom and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence will arrive in the island nation on Wednesday.
The trip also marks the royal family’s first overseas tour of 2024.
The visit comes as the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka mark 75 years of diplomatic relations.
She has three days of royal touring scheduled from 10 – 13 January, including engagements in Colombo, Kandy and Jaffna.
The Princess Royal will meet with President Ranil Wickremesinghe in Colombo. In addition, she will meet businesses and charities; visit Save the Children Sri Lanka program and Commonwealth War Grave under her new role as President of Commonwealth War Graves.
The Princess Royal will also visit sites of religious significance in Kandy and Colombo and meet local communities and civil society representatives while in Jaffna.
The Princess Royal previously visited Sri Lanka in March 1995 as patron of Save the Children, to learn more about projects supported by the charity.
