(COLOMBO) – A Court in Sri Lanka on Wednesday sentenced a former Police Constable to 40 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a nine-year-old boy in 2017.
In addition the accused was also ordered to pay a compensation of Rs. 500,000 to the victim or face another two years in prison if he defaults.
The Kandy High Court Judge W. Darshika Wimalasiri also ordered that the accused must serve the sentence at one time.
The suspect had raped the minor on two occasions, the prosecution told the court.
