A murder investigation is under way after a fifteen year old boy was stabbed to death in Stoke Park in Guildford. Surrey Police said officers were called to woodland near Lido Road shortly after six in the evening following reports of a serious assault. Ambulance crews also attended but the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and police confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage as enquiries continue.
Senior officers said specialist teams are working around the clock to establish exactly what happened and to identify those responsible. Detectives have appealed to the public for information and urged anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to come forward. Local residents have described feeling shocked and frightened by the incident with several saying they no longer feel safe walking in the area. Community leaders and local representatives have also expressed their sadness at the loss of such a young life and offered condolences to the family.
A significant police presence remains in place while forensic work and searches continue in the surrounding woodland. Areas including Peacock Wood, the nearby adventure center and a car park have been cordoned off although access to bowls clubs, student accommodation and the wider park is still being allowed. A local church has opened its doors to provide a space for reflection and prayer while campaigners against knife violence have renewed calls for greater awareness and prevention. Police have reassured the public that the investigation is progressing and that they are determined to bring those responsible to justice as quickly as possible.
