Leaked WhatsApp messages shared by a state-media journalist have triggered internal outrage, raising serious questions about ethics, power, and political embarrassment at the highest levels.
A group of journalists are reportedly preparing to lodge a complaint with the President after a journalist attached to a state media institution was seen publicly displaying WhatsApp messages allegedly sent to her by a powerful minister in the current government. The messages, which she has shown to colleagues, are said to have caused embarrassment to both the minister and the administration.
According to those who witnessed the incident, the journalist openly said, “Here is the message they sent me. They took the ministerial title to govern and now they are covering old arias.” Another journalist, reportedly fearful about job security in the present climate, recorded this exchange on a mobile phone.
The journalist who recorded the incident has since shared the audio with several colleagues, urging them to immediately inform relevant authorities. Meanwhile, another journalist from the same institution has expressed concern that the episode has seriously damaged the image of the government and the minister involved.
The journalist at the center of the controversy is said to frequently shift political loyalties and seek personal privileges. She has also reportedly claimed close links to political figures, while insisting she has no formal political affiliations and hinting at ambitions to soon head her department with ministerial backing.
The identities of both the journalist and the minister remain unknown.
