A familiar leader returns, a new face earns a call up, and Sri Lanka signal intent ahead of a packed three match T20I series at Pallekele.
Sri Lanka have officially announced their squad for the upcoming three match T20I series, with Dasun Shanaka appointed as captain as the side looks to blend experience with emerging talent. The selection reflects a balanced approach, combining established match winners with players pushing for a long term place in the national setup.
The squad includes senior batters Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis and Kusal Janith Perera, alongside versatile all rounders Dhananjaya de Silva and Charith Asalanka. The middle order is further strengthened by Janith Liyanage, while Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana headline the spin and all round department. One of the key talking points is the inclusion of Pavan Rathnayake, whose selection adds fresh energy and depth to the squad.
Sri Lanka’s pace attack features Dushmantha Chameera, Matheesha Pathirana, Pramod Madushan and Eshan Malinga, offering a mix of raw speed, variation and death over expertise.
All three matches of the T20I series will be played at Pallekele, starting on Friday, January 30. The second T20I is scheduled for Sunday, February 1, followed by the final match on Tuesday, February 3. With home conditions and a settled core, Sri Lanka will be aiming for a strong series performance and renewed momentum in T20 cricket.
