(COLOMBO) – A junior male Sri Lankan lawyer was allegedly beaten up by a group of senior colleagues including females over an un explained dispute at Nittambuwa some 189 kilometers from the commercial capital of Colombo, state media reported on Friday.
According to a complaint received by the regional police the victim had earlier been an understudy of the group of lawyers that had attacked him, the State-owned Daily News said.
Police said the victim was driven away in a car by a group of lawyers and severely assaulted by the suspects that included the son and husband of a senior female lawyer.
Initial investigations suggest that the attacks would have taken place over professional jealousy and related matters.
Although police are investigating the complaint no arrests have been made so far, an official said.
