Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and MP Namal Rajapaksa are set to face investigators together as Sri Lanka’s criminal probes close in on high-profile political figures.
Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa have been formally summoned to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department on the 3rd of next month to provide statements to investigators. The move signals a renewed push by authorities to advance long-running probes linked to alleged financial and administrative irregularities.
Shiranthi Rajapaksa is expected to be questioned in connection with the ‘Siriliya Saviya’ project, an inquiry that has drawn sustained public and legal scrutiny. The newly fixed date follows a request made by her after she failed to appear before investigators on an earlier occasion, prompting officials to reschedule the summons.
Meanwhile, Namal Rajapaksa has been directed to appear before the Commercial Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department at 9.30 am on the same day. Investigators are expected to record his statement as part of ongoing commercial and financial crime investigations.
The simultaneous summons of both figures has attracted wide attention, underscoring the expanding scope of high-profile CID investigations in Sri Lanka.
