A scathing allegation from London ignites fresh outrage over nepotism, power, and the erosion of shame at the very heart of governance.
London-based journalist Uvindu Kurukulasuriya has triggered a fresh political storm after claiming that a “new beggar from Kelani” has been sent to the Constitutional Council. The remark was made in a sharply worded social media post that has since sparked intense debate and public backlash.
Kurukulasuriya questioned how the term “Kelani beggars” came into common political usage and why it now dominates public discourse. He asked whether the Constitutional Council has even taken a proper decision on the latest appointment linked to Kelani, or whether this is yet another case of blatant nepotism shaping key state institutions.
He went further, accusing the President of having lost all sense of shame, arguing that recent actions have fully exposed this moral decline. According to Kurukulasuriya, even the last remaining qualities of innocence and restraint are now rapidly disappearing, deepening concerns about governance, accountability, and political ethics.
