A disturbing investigation unfolds as police uncover digital evidence in a major child abuse case that has rattled communities and intensified demands for justice.
Sri Lankan police have arrested a businessman on serious allegations of sexually abusing more than thirty six children under the age of eighteen, in a case that has sent shockwaves across the country and sparked widespread public outrage. The arrest followed a targeted raid carried out by the Child and Women Abuse Prevention and Investigation Bureau after a formal complaint was received from the Kandy area, triggering an urgent and wide ranging investigation.
The suspect, a 38 year old resident of Peradeniya, was taken into custody after investigators examined electronic devices recovered from his possession. According to police sources, preliminary digital evidence suggests that acts of sexual abuse had taken place, raising grave concerns about the scale, coordination, and duration of the alleged crimes. Authorities believe the evidence points to systematic exploitation rather than isolated incidents.
Investigators have further revealed that the suspect is believed to have acted alongside a group of individuals, with indications that some of the abuse was recorded.
