U19 World Cup 2024 (Game 23) – India vs USA
India Under-19 continued their commanding run in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, securing an impressive third consecutive victory to top Group A and advance to the Super Six stage. Favored from the outset, the Indian team lived up to expectations, sealing a resounding win by a substantial 201-run margin against the USA. Naman Tiwary, with the new ball, built on his previous game’s success, claiming crucial wickets early on, well-supported by Raj Limbani. The middle phase saw resistance from the USA batters, but India’s spinners, including Saumy Pandey, Murugan Abhishek, Priyanshu Moliya, and Raj Limbani, ensured control and limited boundary leakage.
In the earlier innings, India’s openers provided a respectful start, setting the stage for a formidable total of 326. Adarsh Singh and Arshin Kulkarni faced challenges initially, but a solid partnership unfolded as Musheer Khan joined Arshin. Arshin, capitalizing on a dropped chance, notched a brilliant century, punishing the USA bowlers, while Musheer contributed a strong 73. Handy contributions from Uday Saharan, Priyanshu Moliya, and Sachin Dhas propelled India to a commanding position. For the USA Under-19, Ateendra Subramanian stood out as the most economical bowler, claiming two crucial wickets.
While chasing an imposing target of 327, the USA Under-19 faced early setbacks, losing three wickets within the initial three overs. Although Siddarth Kappa and Utkarsh Srivastava steadied the ship briefly, the required run rate proved insurmountable. Aarin Nadkarni’s late assault provided some fireworks, but the USA Under-19 seemed content with blocking for the majority of their innings. Despite finishing at the bottom in Group A, they can take heart from batting out the full 50 overs against a formidable Indian bowling unit. With this defeat, the USA Under-19 will now move on to feature in playoff classification matches, while India Under-19 enters the Super Six stage with confidence and an unblemished record.
