Sri Lankan weightlifting star Ransilu Jayathilaka has achieved a historic sporting milestone by winning a gold medal at the internationally renowned Arnold Sports Festival in the United States. His victory marks the first time a Sri Lankan athlete has secured gold during the event’s 37 year history, placing the country firmly on the global strength sports map.
Competing in the highly competitive 120kg Pro category, Jayathilaka delivered a powerful performance in the deadlift event. He successfully lifted an impressive 320kg, a record setting achievement that secured his victory and drew global attention to Sri Lanka’s rising powerlifting talent.
The Arnold Sports Festival took place in Columbus, Ohio, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, attracting athletes and spectators from across the world.
Founded by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Lorimer, the festival features bodybuilding, powerlifting, martial arts, boxing and numerous other international sporting events.
