(COLOMBO) – The authorities in Sri Lanka on Thursday called in the security forces to assist at State hospitals after sections of the medical staff launched a lightning strike to press home a demand for an increment in allowance.
The strike hit 72 hospitals throughout the country and the tri forces were deployed to provide operational support.
Doctors and nurses boycotted the strike saying it was politically motivated.
