Old social media posts by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake criticizing fuel price hikes are resurfacing online, triggering fresh debate over whether past comments were quietly removed as the government revises fuel pricing policies.
A growing discussion across Sri Lankan social media claims that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has removed several old posts from his official accounts. The debate intensified after the government recently revised fuel prices.
Users began circulating screenshots of posts he made years ago while serving as a Member of Parliament. In those messages, he strongly criticized fuel price increases and demanded immediate reductions.
One widely shared quote reads, “Don’t be a fool, reduce fuel prices immediately.”
These resurfaced posts are now being used by critics questioning the government’s current fuel price policy.
So far, the government has not issued any official response addressing allegations about deleted posts.
