Growing fears of a wider Middle East war are intensifying after reports suggest Israel may be considering extreme military options as the conflict with Iran escalates and regional tensions reach unprecedented levels.
Reports emerging from Israeli media claim that the Israeli military is now examining the possibility of using nuclear weapons in the ongoing conflict with Iran. According to information cited by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the government has updated elements of its defense strategy while holding confidential discussions on extremely severe military options under what officials describe as Strategic Deterrence planning.
Security analysts suggest that the reported decline in Israel’s air defense weapon stockpiles may have contributed to this shift in strategic thinking. Experts warn that even discussing the nuclear option signals a deeply dangerous phase in the Middle East conflict, indicating that regional tensions may have reached one of the most critical points in modern history.
The latest escalation began after a joint military strike on Iran by Israel and the United States on February 28. Those attacks reportedly killed several senior Iranian figures, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian officials say the strikes resulted in more than 1,348 deaths and left over 17,000 people injured.
Iran later responded with retaliatory attacks targeting Israel and several American military bases located in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain.
Following those developments, reports indicate that Israel deployed F-35I fighter jets toward Iranian positions and carried out attacks using phosphorus bombs in Lebanon. Oil production in northern Iraq has also reportedly been disrupted amid the expanding conflict.
Analysts warn the humanitarian and geopolitical consequences of the Iran Israel war could last decades. However, the United States Secretary of Energy recently suggested that the conflict may conclude within a few weeks.
