(COLOMBO) – A Government Sri Lankan Veterinary Surgeon was arrested along with four others for the alleged theft of some 20 head of cattle that included pregnant cows at village in Padaviya some 266 kilometres east off the Commercial capital of Colombo, police said on Friday.
The Veterinary Surgeon and an employee at his office were released on personal bail in Rs.500,000 each and warned the former not to interfere with further investigations of the incident.
The other three suspects were remanded till February 14.
Police told court that the suspect Veterinary Surgeon had issued a forged documents to transport the stolen cattle.
The judge ordered police to arrest and produce in court an absconding Police Constable wanted in connection with the same incident.
