In the initial innings, England, after opting to bat first, started strongly with contributions from Theo Wylie and Charlie Allison, who both notched up half-centuries, scoring 61 and 76, respectively. Haydon Mustard also played a vital innings with 41 runs. The team’s total surpassed 200, setting a challenging target for Zimbabwe Under-19. Newman Nyamhuri managed to pick up a couple of wickets for Zimbabwe, but England posted a competitive score.
The bowlers of England Under-19 wreaked havoc on their opponents as Charlie Barnard’s crucial wickets initiated the collapse. Despite a promising start by Panashe Gwatiringa and Panashe Taruvinga, the fall of the first wicket triggered a collapse. The batters struggled to build partnerships, and only Panashe Taruvinga showed resilience with a top score of 30. The Zimbabwean team could not handle Tazeem Ali’s brilliance, ultimately falling short.
