West Indies’ Tour of Australia 2024 (3rd ODI)
Australia achieved a resounding 8 wicket victory over West Indies, securing a clean sweep of the 3 match ODI series. Xavier Bartlett spearheaded the Aussie win with a brilliant spell of bowling in the first innings, helping in bundling out the Carribbeans for just 86. Jake Fraser McGurk and Josh Inglis then proceeded to race through the needed runs, succeeding and doing so in just 6.5 overs.
From the onset, Australia’s bowlers displayed urgency and determination to win. Xavier Bartlett led the bowling attack with 4 wickets for 21 runs, assisted by Adam Zampa and Lance Morris who claimed two each. Alick Athanaze tried his best to hold on at the crease despite losing 5 on the other end for 71 by the 19th over. Unfortunately for the West Indies, Athanaze did not last long either and Bartlett went on to steamroll the tail end for a mere 86 runs in just 24.1 overs.
In the chase, Australia wasted no time in asserting their dominance. Jake Fraser-McGurk led the charge with a blazing knock of 41 runs, setting the tone for the rest of the innings. Despite losing Fraser-McGurk and Aaron Hardie in quick succession, Josh Inglis and Steve Smith ensured there were no further hiccups, guiding Australia to victory with 43.1 overs to spare. Inglis finished with an unbeaten 35 while Smith held strong at 6.
