(COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka is to seek the acquisition of modern technical methods and knowledge used for innovations in Israel’s transport, agricultural, industrial and manufacturing sectors.
The matter was raised earlier this week during a meeting between Sri Lanka’s Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana and Israel’s Transport and Road Safety Minister Miri Regev.
The attention of the two Ministers was also drawn to many diplomatically important issues between the two countries.
Israel’s advanced innovation technology is extremely important to Sri Lanka’s transportation sector,” Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said during the discussion, according to officials.
Israel’s Minister Miri Regev said that over 10,000 Sri Lankans are currently working in Israel under secure and comfortable conditions and they earn high salaries and allowances. Skilled Sri Lankan workers will be given more opportunities for jobs in Israel’s transport sector and other sectors in the future as well,” she added.
The Ministers also exchanged views on many matters related to air services for tourists that Israel hopes to start in the future for the advancement of the tourism industry, as well as the transportation of goods in the maritime sector and the safety of maritime transportation.
