The influencing of team selection and also the public display of affection extended by a Master In Charge of a leading catholic boy’s school towards a particular first eleven cricketer, has created a serious uproar, especially after several groups containing old boys and parents had reported the incident to the Fr. Rector who is overall in charge of the school.
The catholic school in mention has been famous for churning out several national captains in the recent past.
Meanwhile the close bond shared between the two has now become a widely known secret, after the duo had also been seen kissing in public.
The issue escalated even further after the Master in Charge began influencing team selections and insisted that his favourite choice of cricketer be included in the side, at the expense of another, who had been performing quite well during the ongoing season.
The bowler who was dropped and relegated to play a second eleven match had nevertheless picked up six wickets in that game. However, he still finds it difficult to get back into the school’s main first eleven team, especially after helping the second eleven side to win that match by an innings.
Meanwhile, many supporters of the school’s cricket team complain that several members of their school’s Cricket Advisory Committee have little or no cricketing background and are also clueless as to what is currently taking place. Even the Chairman of the Advisory Committee who appears to be frustrated with all the ongoing developments is reported to be hardly present to witness any of the school’s cricket matches.
It has been reported that the Fr. Rector of the school has chosen to dismiss these allegations as he shares a close friendship with the said Master in Charge of the school’s cricket team.
