- PSL 2024 (Game 6) – Peshawar Zalmi vs Karachi Kings
The Karachi Kings secured their first win in PSL 2024, beating the Peshawar Zalmi by a commanding 7 wickets. Kieron Pollard’s blistering knock of 49, turned the tide in Karachi’s favor, eventually sealing their victory.
Peshawar having won the toss and opting to bat first, got off to a rocky start. They lost wickets at crucial junctures, courtesy of pacemen Hamza, Ali and Sams. Despite Babar Azam’s anchoring innings, the lack of substantial support from other batsmen left Peshawar short of their target by a significant margin. Hamza and Hasan Ali both claimed three wickets each while Sams snatched two, downing the Zalmi for 154 runs.
Karachi, having held down the fort in the first innings, got their run chase up and running, instantly putting pressure on the opposition despite an early dismissal. Muhammad Akhlaq’s explosive start provided the impetus, while James Vince and Shoaib Malik played sensibly to keep the scoreboard ticking. The loss of Malik in the 13th over shook the Kings for a brief period but also brought in Kieron Pollard.
Pollard’s belligerent onslaught, particularly in the 15th over where he plundered 27 runs off Waqar Salamkheil, effectively sealed the game in Karachi’s favor, leaving Peshawar Zalmi with no chance of a comeback.
