- PSL 2024 (Game 7) – Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars
The Multan Sultans extended their unbeaten streak in the PSL with a sensational 5 wicket victory over the Lahore Qalandars. Mohammad Rizwan and Ifthikar Ahmed teamed up in the second innings and brilliantly chased down a steep 167.
The Qalandars opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 166 for 5 in their allotted overs, anchored by Rassie van der Dussen’s resilient half-century and Fakhar Zaman’s explosive start. Despite their efforts, Lahore found themselves slightly short of their desired target due to the slow pitch and exceptional bowling, led by Mohammad Ali, Usama Mir, and Abbas Afridi.
In response, Multan Sultans started off their chase by losing wickets and struggling to put pressure on the Lahore bowling attack. However, Mohammad Rizwan held the innings together with a captain’s knock of 82, guiding the chase with composure. When Lahore sensed an opportunity after dismissing Rizwan and David Willey, Iftikhar Ahmed stepped up with a breathtaking display of power-hitting, clobbering an unbeaten 32.
Iftikhar’s explosive innings turned the tide in Multan’s favor, as he dismantled Lahore’s hopes with a flurry of boundaries and sixes. His heroics in the final overs ensured the Sultans maintained their unbeaten streak, securing a memorable victory.
