- 145th Battle of the Blues (Lunch Day 1) – Live from Brumbies Tent
Thomian fresher Sadev Soyza got his side off to a flyer when he notched his half century and remained 66 not out at lunch on the first day of the 145th Battle of the Blues played at the SSC Grounds.
Soyza who so far has hit 10 sweetly timed boundaries along with his opening partner Senadhi Bulankulame put on a 66 run alliance for the first wicket before the Royal Skipper Sineth Jayawardena dismissed Bulankulame when he had the 3rd year colusman snapped up at first slip. Dineth Gunawardena the Thomian number 3 batter is at the crease and remains 10 not out after he himself hit two beautiful boundaries. The Thomians are currently 97 for 1 at lunch made off 26 and with a strike rate of 3.73 runs per over.
Meanwhile the Royalists perhaps may not be enjoying their lunch as much as the Thomians, as they let their opponents off the hook by bowling wayward lines and were guilty of not attacking the Thomian batters as much as they should with the new ball. They also dropped Soyza earlier on.
Historically the SSC track and outfield favours the batting side and the Thomians with their strong batting line up made up of three centurions in the side are expected to bolster their innings as the match progresses.
Meanwhile the Brumbies Tent keeps rocking once again with the all spectators both supporting the two teams having a gala time at the venue.
