- 145th Battle of the Blues (Tea Day 2) – Live from Brumbies Tent
Skipper Sineth Jayawardena continued his rescue bid of Royal College and in the process went on to further frustrate the Thomians as he guided his team past the first hurdle of averting the follow on and guiding his team to 160 for 4 wickets at tea on day two in the 145th Battle of the Blues played at the SSC Grounds.
Jayawardena is currently batting on 89 not out and looks well set to reach the magical 100 run mark unless something seriously untoward happens.
Batting alongside Jayawardena is his Vice Captain Ramiru Perera who is on 22 not out made off a similar number of balls.
This duo earlier shared eight of the Thomian wickets to fall yesterday and looked committed in taking their side further to safety.
Ramiru Perera finds himself in a similar situation as in last year’s big match and is also best remembered for scoring a century at last year’s big match and also stitching a match winning partnership with his last year’s skipper Dasis Manchanayake.
Earlier in the second session the Thomians managed to dismiss Ovina Ambanpola when he was caught and bowled by Perera for 36 and number five batter Dissanyake was bowled by Diego for one.
