The Sri Lanka Rupavahini (TV) Corporation is yet to receive a payment amounting to Rs 900,000 (9 Lakhs) from the Ministry of Tourism after its State Minister Diana Gamage had requested that the Randoli Perehera which was held on the 2nd of September 2023 be transmitted live on television, it is reliably learnt.
The vociferous State Minister Gamage who is now known widely by her nickname ‘Ganja Diana’ due to her relentlessness in pursuing the legalizing cannabis in the country has also been very vocal in parliament presenting her argument that the closing times of bars that serve alcohol be extended and also in promoting a nightlife culture within the country that could potentially boost tourism.
All efforts to contact State Minister Gamage for a quote proved futile at the time of publishing this news item.
