(COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka’s Bandaranaike International Airport was placed on ‘alarm’ mode after an accidental misfire by an airman on Early Tuesday, police said.
The incident took place around 10.25 am local time at the VIP terminal lounge where the roof was damaged in the incident, they said.
The airman was armed with a Chinese built T.56 assault rifle.
The airman was arrested by the Sri Lanka Air Force while the Airport Police was called in to investigate.
