A notable disturbance occurred at Colombo Airport due to issues with visa processing now handled by an Indian company. Tensions flared when a Sri Lankan traveler voiced significant complaints, linking them to India’s role in Sri Lanka’s civil conflict.
This event underscores the delicate nature of geopolitical relations and the complications that can arise when essential services like immigration are outsourced, potentially stirring nationalistic sentiments and public unease.
This incident serves as a reminder of the need for delicate handling of immigration procedures, particularly in areas with intricate historical ties. It also illustrates the broader difficulties nations encounter when foreign companies participate in domestic operations, which can provoke intense public and emotional reactions as seen in this video.
I agree with this guy annoyance. Why the hell is an Indian company handling visa processing for Sri Lanka. Look at the length of the queues…. do you think they are even doing a good job? There are many educated, unemployed people in Sri Lanka and jobs like these are outsourced to foreign companies. What is the logic behind it? At least it should be given to a private srilankan company not a foreign one.
Totally agree with this guy !!! He is a tax payer being refused entry into his own country by a foreign national !! It’s a bloody joke ! Who is the idiotic Minister who gave this contract to an Indian company, when tens of Sri Lankan owned companies are doing so many IT contracts for major companies in the USA, Europe, UK, Australia, etc; ???
Totally agree with this guy …
Srilankan minsters have taken all the money abd have no money to pay our own people.
Hence they employ foreigner to save cost.
Complain to your ministers mot the Indians.
