In a move aimed at bolstering support for Test cricket, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a significant increase in payments for Sri Lanka’s Test players, effectively doubling their compensation.
The decision, made by SLC, reflects a strategic effort to enhance enthusiasm among Test players and underscore the importance of the longer format of the game, the governing body stated.
Under the new payment structure, Test players will receive doubled compensation based on their match contracts, as outlined by SLC guidelines.
As a result of this adjustment, the total payment for a Test player per international match will now amount to approximately USD 15,000, equivalent to around Rs. 4,450,000.
