(COLOMBO) – Three Sri Lankan police officers sustained injuries after their official vehicle driven by a superior officer veered off the road and crashed into a roadside wall in a northern town on Monday.
The incident occurred in Puliyankulam situated some 291 kilometres from the commercial capital of Colombo.
The vehicle was driven by the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Puliyankulam Police Station at the time of the incident.
The vehicle had initially collided with a power line and a motorcycle before crashing into the wall, police said.
The jeep incurred significant damage in the accident and the police officials including the OIC tested negative for alcohol following a breathalyzer test carried out by the regional Judicial Medical Officer (JMO).
The injured policemen were treated for minor injuries and discharged from a regional hospital.
