(COLOMBO) – The Maldives have sought permission from the Sri Lankan Government to allow its senior citizens to take up permanent residence in the island-nation.
The request was made by the Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer during his recent visit to Sri Lanka, according to officials.
Zameer’s request was made during discussions with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles, they said.
The discussions between the two sides also centred on matters of immigration such as the issuance of visas and so on, they added.
