Dilith Jayaweera, leader of the Mawbima Janatha Party and the Sarva Jana Balaya alliance, is visiting Melbourne, Australia, to ignite a beacon of hope for Sri Lankans yearning for political change. This visit comes at a time when the nation is grappling with political, social, and economic turmoil, perpetuated by a handful of political dynasties and their inner circles that have controlled the political landscape since independence.
The story of Sri Lankans in Melbourne is one of resilience and longing. Many emigrated in the late 60s and early 70s, including the Burghers who form a significant part of the Victorian immigrant population. During the bloody civil war from 1983 to 2009, numerous Tamils fled racial discrimination and sought refuge in Australia. In addition, many professionals from various fields moved to Australia, willing to take on mediocre jobs to secure a better future for their children.
Despite the distance, these expatriates continue to hold Sri Lanka close to their hearts.
Now, for the first time, a leader who truly understands the hearts and minds of the people has stepped forward.
Dilith Jayaweera, a successful businessman with deep roots in Sri Lanka, has made the journey to Australia to speak to Sri Lankans and offer a realistic path to transform their homeland.
For 76 long years, the people of Sri Lanka have repeatedly made the same mistake of voting for the same leaders. The current state of political, social, and economic instability is a testament to this error.
It is time for a mindset change before we can achieve the systemic change we have longed for.
Imagine a day when politicians educate their children in government schools, travel using public transport, and seek medical care in government hospitals. Such a day would signify that Sri Lanka is finally on the right path.
Dilith Jayaweera isn’t asking for your vote without thought. He’s asking you to listen, ask questions, and become better informed. This way, you can guide your loved ones in Sri Lanka to make the right choice, helping to transform the nation and liberate it from the political stranglehold of master politicians who manipulate the system, deprive the public, and indulge in the perks, privileges, and luxuries that come with political power.
This is your opportunity to make the correct choice, not only for yourself but for your children and future generations.
This is the moment to break free from the cycle of political stagnation and embrace a brighter future for Sri Lanka.
