Bryson DeChambeau’s joy from winning his second major championship at the 124th U.S. Open at Pinehurst has been tempered by the news that he will not represent Team USA at the Paris Olympics this summer.
Despite his recent triumph, DeChambeau was not among the four golfers selected to compete for the United States. Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, and Collin Morikawa were chosen instead, as each country can only send four top-15 players from the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).
Currently ranked 10th in the world, DeChambeau is still below his compatriots, including Patrick Cantlay. His decision to join the LIV Golf circuit in 2022 has impacted his ranking, as LIV events do not earn OWGR points.
Following his victory at Pinehurst, DeChambeau expressed his desire to compete in Paris. However, USA Golf confirmed their final selections on Twitter, announcing: “The FOUR for #ParisOlympics. Scheffler, Schauffele, Clark, Morikawa.”

In an interview on the Pat McAfee Show, DeChambeau shared his disappointment: “I would love to represent the United States. It was tough for me last time around because of Covid… Hopefully, one day, the game of golf will get figured out and come back together, and I’ll be able to play.”
Schauffele, who won gold at Tokyo 2020, will aim to replicate his success, while Morikawa will make his second Olympic appearance. Scheffler and Clark are set to debut at the Games, hoping to make their mark in France.
