President Biden faced backlash on Thursday over his official X (formerly Twitter) account’s banner, which continued to celebrate Pride Month without acknowledging the nation’s 248th birthday until after inquiries were made by The Post.
“Biden’s July 4th profile banner is still all about Pride Month🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️Shameful!’’ one user commented on X.
Another user wrote, “Can someone please let Biden know #Pride month is over.”
Criticism was also directed at Biden’s aides, who have been managing calls for action after the president’s poor performance in a recent debate against GOP candidate Donald Trump.
“On July 4th, ‘Happy Pride Month’ is displayed from the banner of the POTUS’ X account. Biden’s handlers are getting sloppy,’’ another user added.
Additional comments took aim at White House staffers, who attempted to explain Biden’s debate issues—such as his hoarse voice, stumbling over words, and losing his train of thought—by stating he was recovering from a cold.
“People who are criticizing President Biden for still having the Pride flag up on the Fourth of July should stop. Remember, he still has a cold,’’ one user wrote sarcastically.
The White House did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on Thursday. However, the banner on the X account was changed later that afternoon to one that read “Happy Fourth of July,” featuring fireworks and the presidential seal.
The account also posted two messages on Thursday noting Independence Day, with one stating: “Happy Independence Day, America! May God bless you all. And may God protect our troops.”
